CHS Well Represented at Buckeye Girls State
Circleville City School Foundation provided the funding for two participants at Buckeye Girls State held June 12-18, 2016 at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. Nine Circleville High School juniors were among the 880 attendees at the event. Avery and Bryce DeLong, sponsored by CCSF, were both elected commissioners of their mock counties. According to the DeLongs, this experience taught them about caucuses and campaigning, as well as improved their public speaking skills.
Buckeye Girls State is a week-long program designed to educate Ohio’s young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of good citizenship. The American Legion Auxiliary of Ohio has sponsored this program since 1947.
