The 2016 Vans Team consisted of Angel Shaw, Kiersten Yahn, Ryane Heise, Ashley Sark, Lydia Wickham, Leeanne Stevens, Jordan Ell, Shayna Hoop and Monica Gans. The team began their work in November by developing concepts and visual ideaboards. Photoshop was used to comp their ideas and concepts. In January, team members practiced sketching and painting their designs on canvas, using the new media bought with funds from CCSF. Once the shoes arrived in late February designers began their time intensive task. The initial voting process was based on photos of the finished shoes posted on the Vans website. Although the CHS shoes were voted in the top twenty in the Northeast Region, sadly their entry did not make the cut to be in the top ten in the region and be eligible for the public voting. These student artists have gained phenomenal business experience through this project. Thanks to Mr. Bob Wright for his guidance and for sharing his business expertise with these talented Circleville High School artists. We hope that another Vans entry is in next year’s plans for CHS art students. You’re all winners in our book!
